Product description
Tomato 'Honeycomb' is an exceptional F1 hybrid cherry tomato, celebrated for its unique colour and intensely sweet flavour. This productive cordon variety grows as a tall vine, yielding long, cascading trusses of beautiful, golden-orange fruits. The tomatoes have a delicious honey-like sweetness and a crisp texture, making this award-winning variety a superb choice for a greenhouse or warm, sheltered spot for a gourmet harvest.
Sow 'Honeycomb' seeds in pots or trays of compost under cover, keeping them in a warm place at around 20-22C for reliable germination. When the seedlings have developed their first true leaves, carefully prick them out into individual pots and grow them on in bright, frost-free conditions. Gradually acclimatise the young plants to outdoor conditions before moving them to their final growing position after all risk of hard frost has passed.
Choose a spot in full sun with rich, fertile, and well-draining soil. As a highly productive cordon variety, it is essential to provide sturdy support, such as a tall cane or string, for the vine to be tied to as it grows. Space plants about 45-60cm apart. Water consistently and feed regularly with a high-potash fertiliser once the first fruits begin to form. To direct energy into fruiting, regularly pinch out the side shoots that appear between the main stem and leaf branches.
