Product description
Tomato 'Ruby Falls' is a vigorous trailing tomato specifically bred to cascade from hanging baskets and containers. This prolific bush variety produces an abundance of long trusses, laden with sweet and juicy, ruby-red cherry fruits with an excellent flavour. With good disease resistance, it is the perfect choice for patios and balconies, promising a highly ornamental and delicious harvest.
Sow 'Ruby Falls' seeds in pots or trays of compost under cover, keeping them in a warm place at around 20-22C for reliable germination. When the seedlings have developed their first true leaves, carefully prick them out into individual pots and grow them on in bright, frost-free conditions. Gradually acclimatise the young plants to outdoor conditions before moving them to their final containers after all risk of hard frost has passed.
Plant into a large hanging basket or container using good quality, fertile potting compost and place it in a sunny, sheltered position. Consistent watering and a regular feeding regime with a high-potash fertiliser are essential for container-grown plants to thrive and produce a heavy crop. No support or pinching out of side shoots is required; simply allow the stems to grow and cascade naturally over the sides of the pot.
