Product description

Chilli Pepper 'Gourmet Jalapeño' is a premium Mexican Chilli prized for its bold flavour, thick-walled fruits, and reliable performance. Producing glossy green pods that mature to deep red, this Pepper offers a perfect balance of heat and sweetness, making it ideal for salsas, grilling, stuffing, or pickling. With a Scoville rating of around 2,500–8,000, it delivers a satisfying kick without overwhelming the palate.

Sow seeds indoors from February to April in warm, moist compost, and transplant seedlings into pots or greenhouse beds once they reach 5–8cm tall. Gradually acclimatise and plant out from May to June, bringing pot-grown plants back inside to ripen any end of season fruits in the greenhouse. Water regularly and feed with a high-potash fertiliser once fruits begin to form. Harvest from July to October, picking green for milder flavour or allowing to ripen for extra heat.

Perfect for spice lovers and kitchen gardeners alike, 'Gourmet Jalapeño' combines culinary versatility with ornamental appeal. Its compact growth and prolific fruiting make it suitable for containers, patios, or greenhouse growing, making this variety a must-have for adding fiery flavour to summer dishes.
