Product description
Also known as Scabious, Knautia Melton Pastels is a beautifully free flowering perennial that brings soft, airy colour to the garden from mid-summer into autumn. Its delicate pincushion like blooms appear in shades of pink, lilac, and raspberry, rising on slender stems that add gentle movement to borders and beds. Loved by bees and butterflies, it’s a wonderful choice for creating a relaxed, cottage garden feel with long lasting seasonal interest.
Easy to grow and wonderfully resilient, Knautia thrives in sunny spots with well drained soil. Once established, it needs very little attention beyond occasional deadheading to encourage fresh blooms. It’s ideal for mixed borders, wildlife friendly planting schemes, and naturalistic displays, returning reliably each year with minimal fuss. A light trim in late autumn or early spring will keep plants tidy and ready for another season of colour.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Leave some spent Scabious seedheads over winter to add structure, provide shelter for insects and offer subtle interest when the rest of the garden is resting.
How to Water
Water Knautia regularly during its first few weeks to help it settle in, keeping the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Once established, it’s drought‑tolerant and only needs watering in prolonged dry spells, especially during peak summer growth.
How to Plant
Plant Knautia in a sunny spot with well‑drained soil, setting each plant at the same depth it was growing in its pot. Allow 30-40cm of space around it so the airy stems have room to develop, then water well after planting to help it establish.
