Product description
Sunflower ‘Ronnie Orange’ is a vibrant variety that brings yellow-orange blooms to borders, beds, and containers. With a tidy, bushy habit and cheerful colour, this sunflower reaches up to 1.7 metres tall, making it ideal for planting at the back of borders. Its vivid petals and dark centres make it a standout choice for cutting and a magnet for pollinators.
Sow seeds indoors from March to April or directly outdoors from April to May once the soil has warmed. Choose a sunny, open spot with well-drained soil and plant the seeds 2cm deep. If starting indoors, sow into pots or trays, cover lightly with compost, and keep at around 20°C. Harden off seedlings before planting out from May to June, spacing them 30–45cm apart to give each plant room to shine. Flowers come into bloom July to September.
Water regularly during dry spells, especially while the plants are young. Once established, they’re fairly drought-tolerant, but consistent moisture will help produce fuller plants and longer-lasting blooms. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage more and enjoy a summer-long display of rich colour with minimal fuss. Sunflower ‘Ronnie Orange’ is easy to grow and perfect for adding warmth and charm to any garden.
