Product description
Tomato 'Golden Sunrise' is a popular and reliable salad tomato, prized for the beautiful colour and superb flavour of its fruits. This productive cordon variety grows as a tall vine, yielding heavy trusses of medium-sized, perfectly round, golden-yellow tomatoes. They are known for their exceptionally sweet, fruity taste and low acidity, making them a delicious choice for growing in a greenhouse or a warm, sheltered spot.
Sow 'Golden Sunrise' seeds in pots or trays of compost under cover, keeping them in a warm place at around 20-22C for reliable germination. When the seedlings have developed their first true leaves, carefully prick them out into individual pots and grow them on in bright, frost-free conditions. Gradually acclimatise the young plants to outdoor conditions before moving them to their final growing position after all risk of hard frost has passed.
Choose a spot in full sun with rich, fertile, and well-draining soil. As a productive cordon variety, it is essential to provide a sturdy support, such as a strong cane or stake, for the vine to be tied to as it grows. Space plants about 45-60cm apart. Water consistently and feed regularly with a high-potash fertiliser once the first fruits begin to form. To direct energy into fruiting, regularly pinch out the side shoots that appear between the main stem and leaf branches.
