Product description

Also known as Sweet Scabious, Scabiosa 'Black Knight' is a bold and romantic variety that commands attention with its deep, velvety maroon, almost black, blooms. These pincushion-like flowers rise gracefully on slender stems, adding a touch of gothic elegance to summer borders, wildflower meadows, and floral arrangements. Their rich colour contrasts beautifully with their white stamens, creating depth and drama in any planting scheme.

Sow directly outdoors in shallow drills with rows around 30cm apart from April to May. Choose a sunny spot with well-draining soil and prepare the soil thoroughly before planting. Alternatively, sow in trays under glass and plant out when the seedlings are large enough to handle and the risk of frost has passed. Plants bloom from July to October and reach up to 90cm tall, making them ideal for mid-border planting or stylish floral arrangements. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering and enjoy a continuous display of rich, dramatic colour.

Whether you're crafting a moody bouquet or designing a border with flair, Scabious 'Black Knight' brings texture, movement, and a touch of mystery to any outdoor space.
