Product description

Sunflower ‘Ring of Fire’ is a fiery showstopper that adds bold colour and drama to summer borders. Boasting deep red centres surrounded by golden-yellow tips, each bloom resembles a glowing flame and is perfect for creating eye-catching displays. Growing up to 1.2 metres tall, this variety is ideal for the middle or back of borders and makes a striking addition to cutting gardens and wildlife-friendly spaces.

Sow seeds indoors from March to April or directly outdoors from April to May once the soil has warmed. Choose a sunny, open spot with well-drained soil and plant the seeds 2cm deep. If starting indoors, sow into pots or trays, cover lightly with compost, and keep at around 20°C. Harden off seedlings before planting out from May to June, spacing them 30–45cm apart to give each plant room to shine. Flowers come into bloom July to September.

Water regularly during dry spells, especially while the plants are young. Once established, they’re fairly drought-tolerant, but consistent moisture will help produce taller stems and richer blooms. Support may be needed in exposed areas, and deadheading spent flowers can extend the display.
