Give your seeds the best start

Product description

Grow your own Mediterranean flavour with these Aubergine 'Long Purple' seeds. ‘Long Purple’ is a reliable, heavy-cropping variety that produces glossy, deep purple fruits up to 25cm long. These slender Aubergines have tender flesh and a mild, rich taste, perfect for grilling, roasting, or adding to curries and stews. Ideal for growing in greenhouses or sunny, sheltered spots outdoors.

Sow seeds indoors from January to April at 20–25°C. Transplant seedlings into individual pots once they’re large enough to handle, then move to their final growing position from May onwards. Fruits are ready to harvest from July to October.

Choose a warm, sunny location with fertile, well-drained soil. Space plants around 45cm apart and water regularly, especially during dry spells. Feed with a high-potash fertiliser once flowers appear to boost fruit production. For best results, support plants with canes and pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushier growth.
