This popular variety is known for its strong tops, making harvesting easy. Ideal for late-season sowing, the roots mature slowly and store well through winter, offering a reliable supply of tasty carrots when others fade.
Sow seeds directly outdoors from April to July in well-prepared, stone-free soil. Space rows 30cm apart and thin seedlings to 5–10cm if required. Harvest from June to November, depending on sowing time.
Hardy, dependable, and full of character, 'James Scarlet Intermediate' is a time-tested favourite for traditional kitchen gardens and winter larders.
