Give your seeds the best start

Product description

Add bold colour and irresistible scent to your garden with these Bergamot ‘Mixed’ seeds. This striking perennial produces vibrant, shaggy blooms in shades of pink and purple, perched above aromatic foliage that releases a citrusy fragrance when brushed. Also known as Bee Balm, these plants are a magnet for pollinators and a standout in borders, wildlife gardens, and herb beds.

Sow seeds from late spring into early summer and transplant seedlings into pots when large enough to handle. Nurture the plants in their pots until they’re ready to plant out from August onwards. Flowers bloom throughout summer the following year.

Choose a sunny spot with moist, well-draining soil. Space plants around 40cm apart and water regularly during dry spells. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers or leave them to seed for naturalising. Bergamot is also a traditional herbal favourite, and its leaves can be used fresh or dried to make fragrant teas.
