Product description

Tomato 'Toddler' F1 is a delightful and exceptionally productive baby plum tomato, perfect for family gardens. This compact and easy-to-manage determinate (bush) variety produces huge crops of small, oval, bright red fruits. With an incredibly sweet flavour, they are ideal for snacking and lunchboxes, and its excellent blight resistance makes it a reliable choice for patio pots or outdoor beds.

Sow 'Toddler' F1 seeds in pots or trays of compost under cover, keeping them in a warm place at around 20-22C for reliable germination. When the seedlings have developed their first true leaves, carefully prick them out into individual pots and grow them on in bright, frost-free conditions. Gradually acclimatise the young plants to outdoor conditions before moving them to their final growing position after all risk of hard frost has passed.

Choose a spot in full sun with rich, fertile soil, or a large container with good quality compost. As a compact but heavy-cropping bush, it will benefit from a short cane or cage to support the weight of its fruit as it ripens. Space plants about 50cm apart. Water consistently and feed regularly with a high-potash fertiliser. No pinching out of side shoots is required for this easy-to-grow variety; simply let the plant develop naturally.
