Product description

Tomato 'Bite Size' is a prolific cherry tomato, specifically bred to produce an abundant crop of small, sweet fruits. This compact determinate (bush) variety yields long trusses of delicious, juicy, red cherry tomatoes that are perfect for snacking and salads. Its manageable size makes it an excellent choice for growing in containers on a patio, as well as in a greenhouse or a warm, sheltered spot in the garden.

Sow 'Bite Size' seeds in pots or trays of compost under cover, keeping them in a warm place at around 20-22C for reliable germination. When the seedlings have developed their first true leaves, carefully prick them out into individual pots and grow them on in bright, frost-free conditions. Gradually acclimatise the young plants to outdoor conditions before moving them to their final growing position after all risk of hard frost has passed.

Choose a spot in full sun with rich, fertile, and well-draining soil. As a compact bush type, it does not need training up a tall cane, but a short stake or cage can provide useful support when the plant is heavily laden with fruit. Space plants about 45-60cm apart. Water consistently and feed regularly with a high-potash fertiliser once the first fruits begin to form. Crucially, do not pinch out the side shoots, as these will produce the fruit.
