Product description

This modern Swede 'Tweed' F1 is a reliable hybrid, bred for excellent vigour and strong disease resistance. It is a high-performing variety that consistently produces uniform, globe-shaped roots with classic purple-topped shoulders and a sweet, yellow flesh. Its dependability and excellent flavour make it a superb choice for any vegetable grower seeking a consistent and rewarding harvest from their plot.

Sow Swede 'Tweed' seeds thinly in drills, directly into a well-prepared and fertile seedbed where they are to grow. Cover the seeds lightly with fine soil and water gently. Once the seedlings have developed their first true leaves and are large enough to handle, it is essential to thin them out. This critical step ensures that each remaining plant has enough space to develop a large, healthy root without competition.

Choose a site in full sun with rich, well-draining soil that has been cleared of stones. After thinning, the plants should be spaced about 20-30cm apart to allow for full development. It is important to water them well, especially during dry periods, to encourage steady growth and prevent the roots from splitting. Keep the area free from weeds to reduce competition for nutrients, ensuring a high-quality and successful crop.
