Product description
Poppy 'Iceland Giant' is a charming biennial that brings a gentle wave of pastel colour to summer borders and wildflower gardens. This variety produces large, silky blooms in shades of soft pink, peach, lemon, and white with each flower dancing on slender stems above delicate foliage. Loved by pollinators and admired for its ethereal beauty, ‘Iceland Giant’ is perfect for cottage gardens, meadow-style planting, or adding a romantic touch to mixed displays.
Sow seeds from April to May, either under cover or directly into well-drained soil once the ground has warmed for the season. Keep indoor sown seeds at a steady temperature of 15-20°C, before transplanting seedlings into pots and acclimatising them until they’re ready to be planted out. Alternatively, sow outdoors and cover with a fine layer of soil, leaving 30cm between rows. Choose a sunny, open position and avoid overwatering as Poppies prefer drier conditions once established. As the plants develop and grow, thin them to 40cm. Flowers appear from May to June the following year, creating a graceful display that sways gently in the breeze.
Easy to grow and wonderfully rewarding, 'Iceland Giant' adds a dreamy softness to any outdoor space. Whether planted en masse or dotted among other flowers, its pastel palette and fluttering petals offer timeless garden elegance.
