Product description
Chilli Pepper 'Tabasco' is the iconic variety behind the world-famous hot sauce, producing slender, upright fruits with fiery heat and tangy flavour. With Scoville ratings around 30,000–50,000, these C pack a punch and are ideal for sauces, pickling, and adding bold spice to your favourite dishes. The plants are compact, highly ornamental, and prolific, making them perfect for containers, patios, or greenhouse growing.
Sow seeds indoors from February to April in warm, moist compost, and transplant seedlings into pots or greenhouse beds once they reach 5–8cm tall. Gradually acclimatise and plant out from May to June, bringing the plants back inside to ripen any end of season fruits in the greenhouse. Water regularly and feed with a high-potash fertiliser once fruits begin to form. Harvest from July to October, when fruits shift from pale green to vibrant orange-red.
Whether you're crafting homemade hot sauce or adding heat to summer meals, 'Tabasco' delivers reliable performance and explosive flavour. Its upright fruiting habit and colourful ripening stages add visual interest, while its culinary versatility makes it a must-have for Chilli lovers.
