Product description
Commonly known as Everlasting Sweet Pea, Lathyrus Latifolius Mix, is a vigorous climber that brings a cascade of colour to trellises, fences, pergolas, and arches. This charming mix features shades of pink, rose, and white, blooming in abundance through summer and into early autumn. Unlike annual Sweet Peas, this hardy perennial returns year after year, offering long-lasting beauty with minimal effort.
Sow seeds in pots or trays from January to March or from September to November. Soaking seeds overnight before sowing can improve germination. Cover the seeds with a light layer of compost and keep at a consistently warm temperature of 18-20°C until the seeds have germinated. When they’re large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into pots and allow to harden off gradually before planting outside after the risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny or lightly shaded spot with support for climbing, leave around 30cm between plants, and keep the soil moist during early growth. Flowering typically begins in July and continues through September, attracting bees and butterflies with its nectar-rich blooms.
Perfect for cottage gardens, wildlife-friendly spaces, or adding vertical interest to outdoor areas, Everlasting Sweet Pea is a reliable and low-maintenance garden favourite. Though it lacks the fragrance of its annual cousins, its robust growth and generous flowering make it a standout performer in any outdoor space.
