Product description
Cauliflower 'Romanesco' is a truly eye-catching variety, known for its striking lime-green heads and mesmerising spiral pattern. It offers a nutty flavour and crisp texture that stands out in both the garden and the kitchen. Its architectural form makes it a favourite among growers looking to add visual interest to their vegetable patch.
Sow from April to May, keeping early batches under glass and sowing later batches directly into a seed bed, planting them 2cm deep. Thin seedlings out to 7-10cm apart when they grow their first pair of leaves and harden off gradually before planting out, leaving around 45cm between plants. Harvest between August and October depending on sowing times.
Best grown in fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture, 'Romanesco' thrives in cooler conditions and benefits from steady feeding throughout its growth. It’s ideal for sowing in late spring for an autumn harvest and performs well under cloche or fleece protection in unpredictable weather. With proper care, it produces uniform, medium-sized heads that are as delicious as they are decorative.
