Product description
Pink Star is a charming Camassia variety that adds intricate colour and texture to any outdoor space. These easy to grow bulbs will be the envy of your neighbours and are ideal for adding height to beds and borders. From late spring into early summer, tall spikes bear masses of open, star-shaped flowers in the palest shade of light pink, opening from the bottom up. Camassias make excellent cut flowers for indoor displays and are a magnet for pollinators, enticing bees and butterflies into the garden.
Camassia thrives in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-draining soil. Dig a hole around 3 times as deep as the height of the bulb and position the bulb with the pointed side facing the sky. Backfill the hole with soil, firming down gently before watering well. Allow 10-15cm between bulbs. Camassia is fully hardy in the UK, which means the bulbs don’t need to be dug up and stored before planting again the following year. Simply leave them in place and they’ll emerge with fresh new foliage in spring.

Top Tip
When the foliage starts to yellow and die back at the end of the season, resist the urge to prune it. Allowing the plant to die back naturally enhances its energy levels, resulting in a wonderful display of flowers the following year.
How to Water
Water thoroughly when planting. After this, camassias planted in the ground should only need to be watered during dry spells. Bulbs grown in pots and containers will need watering more regularly to prevent the soil from drying out.
How to Plant
In autumn, choose a sunny spot in moist soil and use a bulb planter or trowel to dig holes around 10cm apart. Place one bulb 10-15cm deep in each hole. Ensure the pointed end faces upwards then backfill the hole with soil, firm down, and water in well.
