Product description

Tulip 'Tarafa' is a charming Kaufmanniana variety that produces elegant creamy-white flowers accented by bold cherry-red stripes. Opening wide like a star in direct sunlight, the blooms of Tulip 'Tarafa' rest above stunning purple-mottled foliage. Growing to a neat 25cm, this early-flowering variety brings a cheerful, striking presence to the front of spring borders.

Plant Tulip 'Tarafa' in an area with well-worked, loose soil to allow its roots to easily penetrate and establish. These perennial bulbs are remarkably low-maintenance and only require a light top-dressing of compost in the autumn. By leaving the bulbs undisturbed, Tulip 'Tarafa' will slowly spread and form beautiful naturalised drifts over time.

These bulbs are supplied at a size of 11-12.

Instructions

Top Tip

Tulip 'Tarafa' features beautifully mottled leaves that provide garden interest long before the cream flowers even open. Being a reliable perennial, it is an excellent candidate for naturalizing under deciduous trees or throughout a rockery.

How to Water

Thoroughly water your Tulip 'Tarafa' bulbs straight after planting to settle the soil securely around them. Keep the soil slightly moist during their active spring growing phase, taking care never to waterlog the area.

How to Plant

Get your Tulip 'Tarafa' bulbs into the ground before the first hard frost, planting them roughly 10cm deep. They will naturally thrive and multiply if planted in a sunny spot with good quality loam.
