Sunflower ‘Teddy Bear’ is a charming dwarf variety that produces dense, double golden-yellow blooms with a soft, fluffy texture, just like its name suggests. Growing to around 40-60cm tall, it’s perfect for borders, containers, and children’s gardens. These strikingly unusual Sunflowers are a magnet for pollinators, enticing bees and butterflies into the garden.

Sow seeds indoors from March to April or directly outdoors from April to May once the soil has warmed. Choose a sunny, open spot with well-drained soil and plant the seeds 2cm deep. If starting indoors, sow into pots or trays, cover lightly with compost, and keep at around 20°C. Harden off seedlings before planting out from May to June, spacing them 30cm apart to give each plant room to shine. Flowers come into bloom from July to September.

Water regularly during dry spells and deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers. ‘Teddy Bear’ Sunflowers are easy to grow and thrive in full sun, making them a great choice for beginner gardeners and family-friendly plots. Their compact size and unique texture make them a standout feature in summer displays and vase arrangements.
