Product description

Miscanthus ‘Kleine Silberspinne’, commonly known as Maiden Grass, is a compact ornamental grass that delivers vibrant colour and graceful movement throughout the seasons. Its upright clumps of narrow green leaves provide structure, while striking red flower plumes emerge in late summer, shimmering above the foliage and adding a bold splash of colour to borders, mixed beds, and patio containers. As autumn arrives, the foliage turns golden, extending the plant’s season of interest and offering a warm contrast in the garden.

Hardy and dependable, Miscanthus ‘Kleine Silberspinne’ thrives in full sun and well drained soil, requiring minimal maintenance to perform year after year. Simply water regularly during dry spells and cut back old stems in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh growth. Its compact size makes it ideal for smaller gardens or as a feature in modern landscapes, while its resilience ensures long lasting appeal.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Cut back Panicum in late winter to make way for fresh growth and maintain a tidy appearance.

How to Water

Water thoroughly after planting to establish roots. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods, as Panicum is drought-tolerant and thrives with minimal moisture in most conditions.

How to Plant

Plant Panicum in well-drained soil and a sunny location. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball, place the plant at the same depth as in its container, and fill with soil. Space plants 60-90cm apart for proper air circulation. Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
