Product description

Leaf Beet ‘Swiss Chard’ is a vibrant and versatile leafy vegetable that brings both colour and nutrition to your garden and kitchen. With glossy, crinkled leaves and striking stems in shades of white, it’s as ornamental as it is edible. This hardy biennial is ideal for cut-and-come-again harvesting, providing a continuous supply of tender leaves and crunchy stalks from summer through to early winter.

Sow seeds from March to July directly into well-prepared soil in a sunny or lightly shaded spot. Space seeds 2–3cm apart in rows, and thin seedlings to around 20cm once established. Keep the soil moist during germination and early growth, and harvest leaves as needed once they reach a usable size, typically from June to October. Leaf Beet doesn’t like to be transplanted, so choose your growing site carefully to avoid disturbing it unnecessarily.

Perfect for gardeners seeking a low-maintenance crop with high visual appeal, Leaf Beet ‘Swiss Chard’ is perfect for growing in vegetable beds, containers, and borders. Its mild, earthy flavour makes it a favourite in stir-fries, soups, and salads, while its resilience and productivity make it a reliable staple for any vegetable gardener.
