Product description
Unlike the tougher evergreen varieties, Epimedium Rose Queen is a deciduous grandiflorum cultivar, completely dropping its leaves to vanish underground during the winter. When it wakes up, it pushes out a highly saturated, aggressive crimson-pink floral display over fresh green foliage tinged with copper.
Position the delicate roots very shallowly in a shaded border highly enriched with broken-down organic matter, keeping the soil reliably damp. Because it physically disappears for several months, you must clearly mark its location with a tag to prevent yourself from accidentally digging a spade straight through its dormant crown.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Because Epimedium Rose Queen drops its leaves completely while dormant, clearly mark its location with a physical tag so you do not accidentally dig it up.
How to Water
Keep the earth reliably damp, acting like a wrung-out sponge that provides constant hydration without ever becoming a swamp for Epimedium Rose Queen. It requires this consistent moisture to successfully push out its highly saturated, crimson-pink blooms. Step in with a watering can during any notable dry spells to prevent the delicate foliage from crisping at the edges.
How to Plant
Carefully position the delicate roots of Epimedium Rose Queen in a shaded border highly enriched with broken-down organic matter. Plant it extremely shallowly, ensuring the growing points are sitting just below a thin layer of protective topsoil. Give it a wide berth from aggressive, fast-growing neighbours that could easily swallow its modest footprint.
