Product description

Named after the historic market town in Devon, Verbena Bampton is an equally charming perennial plant with a light, airy feel. Its wiry purple-green stems bear deep purple foliage and from June to September, these are complemented by spikes of tiny 5-petalled flowers in a lovely shade of lavender pink.

Verbena Bampton grows well in flower beds and borders but is also well suited to containers and pots. Its flowers are highly attractive to bees and butterflies, enticing pollinators and turning the garden into a buzzing hive of activity.

Plant Verbena Bampton in full sun in moist but well-draining soil. Water regularly until established, after which it is drought tolerant. This hardy plant is easy to look after and can withstand cold winter temperatures as it hibernates underground during the winter months. In late autumn, after flowering, cut the spent foliage back to ground level to make way for fresh new growth emerging the following spring.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Deadhead spent blooms on verbena regularly to encourage continuous flowering throughout the season. This helps the plant focus its energy on producing new flowers.

How to Water

Water verbena regularly during the first growing season to establish roots. Once established, it’s drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional watering during dry spells. Avoid overwatering, as verbena prefers slightly dry soil.

How to Plant

Choose a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the plant, and backfill with soil. Firm gently and water thoroughly. Space plants 30-45cm apart for proper air circulation. Add mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
