Product description

ā€œGolden Wonderā€ is a semi-dwarf varietal of Rhododendron that is very compact and in the right acidic conditions, produces multitudes of pleasant yellow, medium-sized flowers. The flowers grow on trusses in groups of 3 to 5. The springtime blooms are rather elegant and can produce many bunches of flowers. When properly cared for, the flowers are produced in large numbers. Foliage is composed of medium green leaves that are in an elongated oval shape and about 4 to 7 cm in length.

Hardy in the UK, however, they do require shelter and protection from strong, cold winds.

With a preference for partially shaded and sheltered areas, these plants require some thought and care as to where they are placed. Also, they make wonderful additions to flower beds, borders and small gardens.

Due to its comparatively diminutive size, this variety does well in containers which allow you to adjust for the soil acidity, partial shade and sheltered requirements. Other suggested planting areas include informal garden areas, like those around a cottage. These smaller Rhododendron are also perfect for a patio area and courtyard garden.

Instructions

Top Tip

Avoid planting Rhododendrons too deep; the root crown should be slightly above soil level to prevent rot.

How to Water

Water Rhododendrons regularly, especially in dry periods. Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Mulch around the base to help retain moisture and prevent weeds.

How to Plant

Plant Rhododendrons in a partially shaded spot with acidic, well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball and place the plant, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil. Backfill with soil and water thoroughly.
