Product description
Pyracantha 'Saphyr Orange' is a modern cultivar of Firethorn, specifically bred for superior health and garden performance. Its most important attribute is its excellent resistance to common diseases like fireblight and scab, which ensures the plant remains healthy and produces a reliable display year after year. The result of this vigour is a truly spectacular show of countless, brilliant orange berries that smother the branches in dense clusters. This fiery display is held against a backdrop of dark green evergreen foliage.
This versatile and robust shrub is ideal for a wide range of uses in garden design. Its strong, branching structure makes it perfect for training against a wall or fence, creating a magnificent vertical feature of foliage and fruit. Thanks to its dense growth and formidable thorns, it also forms a highly effective intruder-proof hedge that is both functional and beautiful. 'Saphyr Orange' is also a great choice for supporting wildlife, as its flowers attract pollinators and its berries offer a feast for birds through the colder months.

Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
The secret to a magnificent berry display on your Pyracantha is simple: prune for shape immediately after the flowers have faded. Never prune when the colourful berries are present, as you will be cutting off both the current season's show and the wood that will produce next year's flowers.
How to Water
Pyracantha shrubs will thrive in any well-drained soil and with regular watering for its first year to help it get established. The single most important care rule is for pruning: always trim the shrub to shape immediately after the flowers have faded, as pruning at any other time will remove the spectacular berries.
How to Plant
For Pyracantha, wearing sturdy gloves, water the pot and dig a hole twice its width, mixing in some compost. Place the plant in the hole so the top of the rootball is level with the surrounding soil. Backfill the hole, firm the soil gently around the roots, and finish with a thorough watering to settle everything in.
