Never feed Pitcher Plants dead insects or scraps of food - their traps only respond to live prey. Feeding them dead material can cause the traps to rot and weaken the plant, so let them catch their own meals naturally.
How to Water
Keep the soil consistently moist using rainwater or distilled water, as tap water may harm a Butterwort plant. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, and ensure excess water can drain freely to prevent root rot.
How to Plant
To plant Pinguicula plants, use a pot with good drainage filled with a soil mix of sphagnum moss and sand or perlite to mimic its natural boggy habitat. Avoid using fertilised or nutrient-rich soil, as these plants thrive in nutrient-poor environments. Place the pot in a sunny location, as they require at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily to thrive. When planting, ensure the rhizome is just above the soil surface, and water thoroughly to settle the soil around the roots.
