Product description
Peppermint Common is a vigorous and pervasive herb cultivated primarily for the sharp, cooling menthol sensation found in its dark green, purple-tinged leaves. This potent flavour, which is refreshing and intensely aromatic, is released immediately upon steeping or crushing the foliage. It is traditionally used as a soothing herbal tea to aid digestion, as well as a key flavouring for chocolates, candies, and summer cocktails, where its clean "bite" cuts through sweetness.
This plant is typically grown as a hardy perennial that spreads aggressively via underground runners, earning it a reputation as a garden "thug" if left unchecked. It is extremely tough and frost-tolerant, dying back in winter only to return with vigour in the spring. For the best results and lush foliage, plant it in a location with partial shade, though it tolerates sun well if kept damp. It is not drought-tolerant and thrives in fertile, rich soil that is kept consistently moist through regular watering.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Peppermint Common will take over your garden if given the chance. Never plant it directly into your flower beds. Instead, grow it in a pot, or sink a bucket (with drainage holes) into the ground to contain its wandering roots.
How to Water
Peppermint Common is a thirsty plant that naturally grows near riverbanks. Keep the soil consistently moist; if it dries out, the leaves will shrivel and the plant will become susceptible to powdery mildew.
How to Plant
Plant Peppermint Common in a container to restrict its invasive growth habit. It prefers cool, moisture-retentive soil and benefits from being divided every couple of years to prevent it from becoming root-bound and straggly.
