Product description

This houseplant is a gorgeous piece to include anywhere you desire within an indoor environment. The Monstera Deliciosa provides many indoor places with a statement plant that catches the eye of both plant lovers and people visiting. The rainforest-like foliage is a bold part of the plant which has a climbing habit, with a large peak growth and a popular reputation in the plant world. When watering this plant, you needn't worry about the difficulty of it as the Deliciosa is very easy to maintain. When kept in a dry atmosphere, mist the plant a few times a week. However, the top soil of the plant should never be dry, so the odd watering every now and then to avoid that is recommended.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.

Keep in bright, indirect light, though it can tolerate some shade. Water when the top 3–5cm of soil feels dry, ensuring excess water drains freely to prevent root rot. Maintain high humidity by misting occasionally or using a humidity tray. Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer to encourage lush growth. Wipe the leaves regularly to remove dust and allow for better photosynthesis. Provide a moss pole or stake to support climbing growth and encourage larger, more fenestrated leaves.

Top Tip

To encourage bigger, more fenestrated leaves, provide your Monstera deliciosa with a moss pole or stake for support. Tying the aerial roots to the pole helps mimic its natural climbing habit, leading to stronger growth and more dramatic leaf splits!

How to Water

Water Monstera deliciosa when the top 3–5cm of soil feels dry. Use room-temperature, filtered, or dechlorinated water to prevent leaf browning. Water thoroughly until excess drains out, but never let the plant sit in water, as this can cause root rot. In warmer months, water once a week or when needed, while in winter, reduce watering to every 2–3 weeks, allowing the soil to dry out more between waterings. Maintain humidity by misting occasionally, especially in dry indoor environments.

How to Plant

Plant in a well-draining, nutrient-rich potting mix with added perlite or orchid bark for aeration. Choose a pot with drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. Position the plant in bright, indirect light, avoiding direct sunlight, which can scorch its leaves. When repotting, gently loosen the roots and place the plant at the same depth as before. Water thoroughly after planting, allowing excess water to drain away. If growing indoors, provide a moss pole or support to encourage vertical growth. Keep humidity levels high and maintain temperatures between 18–27°C for optimal growth.
