Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Adding coarse grit directly into the planting hole improves drainage exactly where the roots need it most. This helps prevent the damp, heavy conditions that Lavender dislikes and encourages stronger, healthier growth.
How to Water
Water Lavandula sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings, as it dislikes sitting in damp conditions. Once established, Lavender only needs occasional watering during prolonged dry spells, especially if grown in pots where soil dries faster.
How to Plant
Plant Lavender in full sun, setting it at the same depth as it was in its pot and spacing plants around 20-30cm apart. Choose well‑drained soil or a gritty mix, firm in gently, and water well to help it establish in its new spot.
