Product description

Hyssopus officinalis, or Common Hyssop, is a wonderfully aromatic perennial that brings colour, movement, and gentle charm to any garden. Its upright stems carry vibrant purple-blue flower spikes from mid-summer into early autumn, creating a lively display that’s loved by bees and butterflies. Whether planted in borders, herb gardens, or patio containers, Hyssop adds a classic cottage garden feel to any outdoor space with very little effort required.

This reliable perennial is also delightfully straightforward to look after. It thrives in full sun and well drained soil, making it an easy and rewarding addition to any garden. Once established, Common Hyssop needs only light watering and an occasional trim to keep it neat and encourage fresh growth. Hardy, resilient, and beautifully fragrant, it’s a plant that rewards you year after year with colour, scent, and natural garden life.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Trim back Hyssop flower spikes once they fade to encourage a tidy shape and, in some cases, a light second flush.

How to Water

Water Hyssop regularly during its first few weeks to help it settle and develop strong roots. After that, allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings, giving it a good soak during warm or prolonged dry spells to keep the plant healthy and flowering well.

How to Plant

Plant Hyssop in a sunny spot with well‑drained soil, digging a hole just a little wider than the rootball. Set the plant in so the crown sits level with the soil surface, then backfill, firm gently, and water thoroughly to help it settle in.
