Product description
Heuchera Black Taffeta or Coral Bells are not the usual green seen in nature. These evergreen perennials come in rich silky black colours, with neat clumps of ruffled foliage that will add striking elegant lush to your garden. These shade-loving plants produce slender stems of flowers that are loved by bees and butterflies. Their compact and mounding habit makes them suitable for containers or as ground covers.
Black Taffeta, sometimes also known as the Alum Root, is an excellent new variety with large glossy leaves with plum undersides. It produces pink-blushed flowers in late spring offering a dazzling show of colours. These flowers contrast splendidly on dark purple or black glossy leaves that are heavily ruffled at the edges, with purple undersides. In winter, the leaves may turn more brownish but only to replenish and return in elegant dark colours in spring.
Black Taffeta is highly tolerant of drought and extreme winter. It prefers average to moist soil that is fertile and well-drained. The dark foliage of this plant allows it to withstand direct full sunlight, although it prefers shady spots. Avoid over-watering the plant and make sure the crown of the plant is not buried in the ground.
Remove any damaged leaves in early spring to encourage new growth. Water and feed occasionally until the plant develops its root system. Black Taffeta is deer and rabbit resistant.
Its mounding habit makes it look great in garden containers. Black Taffeta is perfect for landscape edging, mixed border and for cut flowers. It will simply enrich a shady courtyard or use it as a groundcover.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

How to Water
Heuchera prefers consistently moist, well-drained soil. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, but avoid overwatering as they don't like soggy conditions. Water at the base to prevent leaf disease.
How to Plant
