Product description
Rosemary 'Severn Sea' is a popular perennial herb, famously prized for its graceful, arching branches and prolific clear blue flowers. The primary part used for its culinary value is its aromatic, needle-like leaves, which provide a classic, robust, and piney rosemary flavour essential for seasoning roasted foods, breads, and oils. However, its edibility doesn't stop there; the attractive, clear blue flowers are also edible and make a beautiful, fragrant garnish for salads and drinks.
When it comes to planting and maintenance, this is an easy-to-grow, spreading evergreen shrub, but it has very specific, non-negotiable requirements. It is extremely fussy about its light conditions and absolutely must have a location in full, direct sun to thrive. The main requirement for it to grow well is providing it with soil that is exceptionally well-drained, as it strongly dislikes "wet feet" and is very drought-tolerant once established. As an added benefit to the garden, its attractive blue flowers are known to be a major favourite of bees.

Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
As one of the most wind-tolerant varieties, Rosemary 'Severn Sea' is excellent for planting as a low windbreak to protect more delicate herbs in an exposed garden. Its arching branches are more flexible than upright types, meaning they are less likely to snap in a gale.
How to Water
Water Rosemary 'Severn Sea' lightly during its first season to settle the roots. After that, keep it on the dry side, as it is highly adapted to dry conditions and will suffer in soggy ground.
How to Plant
Plant Rosemary 'Severn Sea' in a sunny, sheltered spot with sharp drainage, adding plenty of grit to the planting hole if your soil is heavy. Allow room for the arching branches to spread, and avoid overwatering once the plant has settled in.
