Product description
Marjoram 'Acorn Bank' is a popular perennial herb, prized for both its ornamental value and its culinary uses. The primary part used in the kitchen is its small, aromatic leaves, which provide a classic, sweet marjoram flavour that is milder and more floral than its relative, common oregano. However, its value extends beyond just the leaves; the attractive pinkish-purple flowers that appear in showy clusters are also edible and make a beautiful garnish for many dishes.
When it comes to planting and maintenance, this is an easy-to-grow, mounding perennial, but it has specific needs. It is fussy about light and must have a location in full, direct sun to thrive and develop its best flavour and flowers. The main requirement for it to grow well is providing it with soil that is very well-drained, as it strongly dislikes "wet feet" and is quite drought-tolerant once established. As a major benefit to the garden, its prolific and attractive flowers are extremely popular with bees and other pollinators.

Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Marjoram 'Acorn Bank' holds its flavour better when frozen in ice cube trays with oil than when dried, which often results in a dusty taste. If growing for the kitchen, plant it near a path where the heat radiating from the stones will intensify the essential oils.
How to Water
Water Marjoram 'Acorn Bank' sparingly once established, as it prefers the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid wetting the foliage in winter, as this semi-evergreen variety dislikes cold, damp conditions.
How to Plant
Select a warm, sunny spot with free-draining soil for Marjoram 'Acorn Bank' to maintain the vibrant golden colour of its foliage. Avoid heavy clay or wet conditions, and trim back the stems after flowering to keep the plant compact and healthy.
