Product description
Basil 'Cinnamon' is a unique and highly aromatic variety, prized for its striking appearance and distinct, spicy flavour profile. It features attractive purple stems and pinkish-purple flowers, but its primary culinary value comes from its leaves, which have a warm, sweet scent and a flavour that clearly combines traditional basil with strong notes of cinnamon. This makes it a popular choice for both sweet applications, like fruit salads, teas, and baked goods, as well as in savoury dishes.
When it comes to planting and maintenance, this is a tender, heat-loving plant that must have a location in full, direct sun to develop its best flavour. It is extremely sensitive to cold and cannot tolerate any frost. It requires rich, fertile soil that is kept consistently moist but remains well-drained, as it wilts quickly if allowed to dry out. To encourage a bushy, full plant, it's best to pinch the growing tips regularly, which also delays flowering and promotes more leaf production.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
While Basil 'Cinnamon' is delicious fresh, it also retains its spicy aroma exceptionally well when dried, unlike sweet basil which often loses flavour. Use the dried leaves in potpourri or infuse them into warm milk for a unique twist on hot chocolate.
How to Water
Basil 'Cinnamon' needs regular watering to keep the compost moist but not sodden, ideally watering at the base to avoid wetting the leaves. It hates sitting in cold water, so ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot.
How to Plant
Choose a warm, sheltered location in full sun for Basil 'Cinnamon' and plant into rich, well-drained soil only after all risk of frost has passed. Pinch out the growing tips to encourage a bushy habit.
