Product description
Hebe 'Mrs Winder' is a fantastic compact evergreen shrub, valued for its rich, year-round foliage colour. Its main display comes from its slender, lance-shaped leaves, which are a deep, glossy green that takes on a beautiful reddish-bronze or deep purple tint in cold weather. It also produces spikes of attractive violet-blue flowers during its blooming season, making it a wonderful, low-maintenance choice for permanent structure.
For the best results and richest foliage colour, it requires a sunny and sheltered position with well-drained soil, but it does not need acidic conditions to thrive. Pruning is mainly done to maintain its neat shape and should be carried out after the main flowering flush has finished. A light trim to remove the spent flower spikes and tidy the foliage will keep the plant looking compact, but hard pruning into old, bare wood should be avoided.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
The Hebe Mrs Winder is valued for both its foliage and flowers. To get the best of both, plant it in full sun, which will intensify the purple-bronze leaf colour and also encourage the most prolific display of its violet-blue flower spikes.
How to Water
This Hebe Mrs Winder is highly intolerant of "wet feet" or waterlogged ground, especially in winter. Water it regularly during its first season to establish its roots, but after that, it is reasonably drought-tolerant and only needs an occasional watering during very hot, dry weather.
How to Plant
Choose your sunniest, most sheltered spot. Good drainage is key for the Hebe Mrs Winder to prevent root rot, so add horticultural grit to the planting hole if you have heavy clay soil.
