Product description

Geum Orange Pumpkin is an easy way to bring a warm splash of colour into the garden, with rounded orange flowers held on slender stems above fresh green foliage. The main flowering period runs from May to July, while a second flush can appear in autumn, extending the display later into the year. It forms a neat clump and works well towards the front of a border, among other perennials, or in a container.

Plant Orange Pumpkin in a sunny or partially shaded position in fertile, well-drained soil, and it should settle in without needing much attention. Keep it watered while establishing and during prolonged dry weather, then remove faded flowers to encourage further blooms. Once the flowering season is over, allow the foliage to die back naturally before tidying the plant, ready for it to return the following year.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

In a container, move the pot somewhere that gets plenty of winter sun and make sure excess rain can escape freely. Geum dislikes sitting in saturated compost, so raising the pot slightly on feet can make a surprisingly big difference through a wet UK winter.

How to Water

Keep Avens well watered while it establishes, particularly during warm or dry weather. Once settled, it will cope with short dry spells, but water thoroughly when the soil begins to dry rather than giving small amounts little and often.

How to Plant

Choose a sunny or partially shaded position with fertile, well-drained soil, then dig a hole slightly wider and deeper than the root ball. Set Geum at the same depth as it was growing in its pot, backfill with soil, firm gently around the base, and water thoroughly to help it settle.
