Product description
Echinops Veitch's Blue is a slightly more compact, significantly darker version of the classic globe thistle. It produces deeply cut, aggressively spiky leaves with silvery undersides, topped by intense, dark electric-blue spheres that provide uncompromising structural contrast and a massive food source for local insects.
Force it to survive in the harshest, driest, fastest-draining dirt you have, as it physically demands baking heat and poor soil to keep its architectural stems rigid. Once the taproot settles after planting, completely ban the watering can from its vicinity; wet dirt will rot the crown in weeks.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Instructions
Top Tip
Wear thick, heavy-duty gardening gloves when handling Echinops Veitch's Blue to protect your hands from its aggressively spiky foliage.
How to Water
Deliver a few deep soakings right after planting to force the roots of Echinops Veitch's Blue to search downward for hydration. After its first few weeks in the ground, strictly withhold all supplemental watering so it can find its own moisture deep underground. It will physically collapse if forced to sit in a bog.
How to Plant
Settle Echinops Veitch's Blue into a baking hot border utilizing extremely well-draining, stony, or sandy dirt. Ensure the taproot goes straight down into the planting hole without bending or breaking. Do not pamper this rugged survivor with heavily amended, nutrient-rich topsoil, as poor dirt keeps its structure rigid.
