Also known by the botanical name Cotinus coggygria or the more common name Smoke Bush, Cotinus Lilla is a dwarf shrub growing to around 120cm. It boasts a compact, rounded growing habit yet packs a mighty punch in the garden. Young foliage emerges purple and is covered with airy plumes of tiny pink flowers in summer, producing a smoke-like effect. The leaves change colour in autumn, turning dramatic shades of red, orange, and yellow.
This hardy shrub s easy to grow and demands very little maintenance to look its best. Water thoroughly after planting and once a week until well-established, after which Cotinus only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells. Lightly prune after flowering to tidy the shrub and maintain its neat shape.

How to Water
Water regularly for the first 2 years. Cotinus plants are drought tolerant once established and only need to be watered during particularly dry spells.
How to Plant
Cotinus tolerates partial shade but flourishes best when exposed to full sun. It prefers moist but well-draining soil and benefits from adding organic matter into the soil before planting. Dig a hole around twice as wide as the root ball. Position the plant so the top of the root ball is at soil level then backfill with soil and compost, gently firm down, and water in well.
