House Plant Size Guide

House plants come in a wide array of shapes and sizes depending on the variety and maturity of the plant.
6cm/12cm/15cm/19cm/23cm nursery pots are the most common size of pot that they are sold in. This measurement is the diameter at the top of the pot.
12cm potted plants are the most popular providing great value for money and an instant impact. Larger plants that come in pots of 20cm+ are great for making a statement in any room and can represent years of growth to get to that level of maturity and size.

Top Tip
Never feed carnivorous plants dead insects or scraps of food - their traps only respond to live prey. Feeding them dead material can cause the traps to rot and weaken the plant, so let them catch their own meals naturally.
How to Water
Keep the soil consistently moist by using rainwater or distilled water, as tap water often contains minerals that can harm carnivorous plants. Water from below by standing the pots in a shallow tray, allowing the plants to absorb what they need, and never let them dry out completely.
How to Plant
To plant carnivorous plants, use a pot with good drainage filled with a soil mix of sphagnum moss and sand or perlite to mimic its natural boggy habitat. Avoid using fertilised or nutrient-rich soil, as these plants thrive in nutrient-poor environments. Place the pot in a sunny location, as they require at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily to thrive. When planting, ensure the rhizome is just above the soil surface, and water thoroughly to settle the soil around the roots.
