Product description
Also known as Feather Reed Grass or Smallweed, Calamagrostis Overdam is a compact, tufted ornamental grass boasting long, slender leaves that arch out from the centre, creating a fountain-like effect. These deciduous plants are well-structured and ideal for adding height and texture interest to the garden.
The bright green leaves are variegated with creamy stripes that fade to white with maturity and form the perfect base for the tall stems of feathery pink-purple flowers that bloom from July to September. These flower stems can be left in place throughout winter to create a striking year-round focal point in the garden.
Feather Reed Grass is low maintenance and easy to care for. It is fully hardy, thrives in full sun or partial shade, and prefers moist but well-draining soil. Despite growing quickly, Smallweed only needs to be pruned annually in early spring to allow new growth to emerge.

Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

How to Water
Water well after planting and continue watering regularly for the first year or two, until the plant is well-established. After this, Calamagrostis is generally drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells. Avoid overwatering, as the roots don’t like sitting in waterlogged soil.
