Product description

Berberis Golden Ring is a deciduous shrub that has rounded foliage of purple colouring in Spring, which is joined by yellow flowers in the same season. Summer sees purple and yellow come together in the foliage, with red coming to the fore in Autumn to add an eye-catching look to the shrub. You should plant it in moist, well-drained soil and have it placed in full sun for the most-part. After planting, watering should be done thoroughly for a period of time, whilst you ensure watering is carried out to a good level in the Summer months. The key to caring for this plant is to ensure the soil is moist, but not water-logged.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.

Instructions

Top Tip

Berbaris plants are covered in spines, so always protect yourself with gloves and long sleeves when tending them.

How to Water

Water generously and regularly for the first growing season. After this, berbaris is relatively drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells.

How to Plant

Berberis grows well in most moist but well-draining soil types and thrives in full sun or partial shade. Prepare the ground, digging in some garden compost and position the plant in the hole before backfilling and watering in well.
