Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.

Top Tip
Pinching out the very tips of young shoots in spring helps the plant form a fuller, bushier shape with plenty of flowering stems later on. At the same time, giving Fuchsia morning sun and gentle afternoon shade prevents the blooms from fading, keeping those striking colours looking their best.
How to Water
Water thoroughly whenever the top layer of compost begins to dry, allowing moisture to reach the full root zone rather than giving frequent light sprinkles. In hot spells, check baskets and containers twice a day, as trailing Fuchsias can dry out quickly once they’re in full summer growth.
How to Plant
Plant Fuchsias into fresh, well‑drained compost, leaving 8-10cm between each young plant to allow the roots to establish. Set each one so the base of the stem sits level with the surrounding compost, firm gently to remove air pockets, and water thoroughly to help them settle in.
