Product description
Nandina Gulf Stream, also known as Heavenly Bamboo, brings year-round colour and texture to the garden with its compact shape and ever-changing foliage. New leaves emerge in warm copper tones, mature to fresh green through summer, and shift to rich reds and oranges as temperatures cool. In early summer, it produces delicate clusters of small white flowers that add a soft, airy touch to borders and beds. These are sometimes followed by bright red berries in autumn and winter, providing extra seasonal interest and a welcome splash of colour when the rest of the garden is quiet.
To keep Gulf Stream looking its best, give it moist, well drained soil and a position in sun or light shade so the foliage can develop its strongest colours. Water it regularly while it settles in, then only during long dry spells once established. A quick tidy in late winter is usually all it needs to maintain its shape and encourage a fresh flush of vibrant new growth.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Avoid overfeeding Heavenly Bamboo - too much fertiliser encourages soft green growth and reduces the intensity of the red and copper tones. A light spring feed is plenty.
How to Water
Water Heavenly Bamboo thoroughly after planting and keep the soil evenly moist while it establishes, especially through its first spring and summer. Once settled, it becomes drought‑tolerant, needing only occasional watering during long dry spells.
How to Plant
Plant Nandina in a spot with moist, well-drained soil, working in some organic matter to improve structure and help the roots settle quickly. Choose a position in full sun or light shade, as this balance encourages the strongest foliage colours through the year. Dig a hole slightly wider than the rootball, set the plant in at the same depth it was in its pot, and backfill firmly to remove air pockets.
