Astilbe Chocolate Shogun are deciduous, perennial plants for the garden which can add some unique colour. This outdoor plant gets its name from the unique, chocolatey bronze coloured foliage which can be slightly tinged with deep purple. In late spring, pink buds growing on tall, upright panicles open and bloom into masses of pale pink or white flowers.
Plant Astilbe Chocolate Shogun in moist, well-drained, loamy soil in full sun or partial shade. In areas with warm summer climates, however, it is important to provide some extra shade during the hot summer months. The striking colours make these plants great patio plants for growing in containers, or great bedding plants for adding to mixed beds and borders.

Water generously and regularly for the first year then only during dry spells when the soil starts to dry out.
How to Plant
Dig in plenty of garden compost and plant in spring or autumn in rich, moist but well-draining soil. Astilbes grows in full sun but flourishes best when planted in partial shade. Create a hole slightly wider than the root ball and position the plant before backfilling, firming gently as you go. Water in well after planting.
