Product description

The Ballerina Purple Rose variety of thrift offers a slightly softer visual palette, producing lovely lilac-pink floral globes over its dense green mound. It is genetically wired to survive harsh, highly exposed coastal conditions, making it virtually indestructible in a standard domestic border.

Ensure the planting pocket is heavily amended with drainage material so the roots never sit in stagnant water. Rely strictly on natural rainfall for hydration once the plant settles in, and periodically divide mature, woody clumps with a garden fork to rejuvenate the plant's vigour and tidy its shape.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

You can rejuvenate an older, struggling clump of Armeria Ballerina Purple Rose by carefully digging it up and dividing it into smaller sections. Use two garden forks back-to-back to pry the tough woody core apart, discarding the dead centre. Replant the fresh outer grassy chunks immediately to multiply your stock for free.

How to Water

Water the planting site of Armeria Ballerina Purple Rose thoroughly just once to collapse the loose, gritty soil around the roots. Moving forward, completely ignore the watering can unless the weather turns unusually arid. This tough little cushion plant thrives on neglect and demands a dry environment to stay healthy.

How to Plant

Find a well-drained, sunny location where the soft lilac blooms of Armeria Ballerina Purple Rose will not be overshadowed. Prepare the ground by working in plenty of sharp drainage material before settling the plant into the hole. Ensure the grassy basal rosette sits slightly above the soil line to prevent devastating winter rot.
