Product description

This vigorously growing, bushy perennial builds a dense, semi-evergreen dome of deeply cut, feathery, silvery-green foliage that emits a highly potent, sharp herbal scent whenever brushed or bruised. From early summer straight through to autumn, it covers itself entirely in hundreds of cheerful, daisy-like flowers featuring pale, cool lemon-yellow petals around a golden central disc. It is a workhorse plant that provides months of relentless colour and exceptional textural interest, perfectly suited for dry, Mediterranean-style garden designs.

To prevent the centre of the leafy clump from splitting open, dying back, and becoming an ugly, woody mess, you must be ruthless with your pruning shears; chop the entire plant back by half its height immediately after the very first heavy flush of blooms fades. This harsh "haircut" forces fresh, dense basal growth and triggers a highly prolific second wave of flowers. It absolutely demands poor, gritty, perfectly drained soil to survive; do not apply rich compost or heavy nitrogen fertilisers, as this will cause the stems to grow soft, floppy, and weak.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Cut the entire plant back by half immediately after the first major flush of yellow daisies fades. This harsh shearing forces a fresh mound of silvery foliage to emerge within weeks. It also frequently triggers a second, smaller wave of blooms later in the cycle for the Anthemis E.C Buxton

How to Water

Water this Mediterranean daisy sparingly once it has firmly established itself in the ground. Overwatering is the single fastest way to kill this drought-tolerant perennial. Only provide supplemental moisture when the foliage begins to look noticeably limp or dull on the Anthemis E.C Buxton.

How to Plant

Prepare a spot that features highly porous, sandy, or gritty earth. Dig a shallow hole that exactly matches the depth of the current nursery pot. Tease the root ball apart slightly with your fingers to encourage outward growth before planting the Anthemis E.C Buxton.
