Product description
Alstroemeria Inticancha 'Moonlight' is a striking garden plant with a neat, bushy, yet compact growing habit. It features lanceolate mid-green leaves, and from early summer, the foliage is decorated with funnel-shaped white blooms flushed with lilac-purple towards the centre. These flowers last all the way through to late autumn, providing colour and texture interest late into the season. They are nectar-rich, attracting bees and butterflies into the garden, and their longevity makes them a popular choice for indoor cut flower displays.
Also known as Peruvian Lily, Alstroemeria plants are relatively easy to grow and care for, reaching an ultimate height and spread of up to 40cm. Choose a sheltered, sunny spot and plant in moist but well-draining soil. Water regularly during dry spells and, for the best, most prolific show of flowers, fertilise every week or 2 with a high-potassium feed. Deadheading spent blooms as required will also help these early summer flowering plants produce further flowers later into the season.
Cut your Alstroemeria plant back in late autumn, ready for it to over-winter beneath ground level before emerging again with fresh new growth the following spring. In colder areas, Peruvian Lilies may need protection from frosty temperatures. Add a generous layer of mulch over bed and border plants and cover patio pots with horticultural fleece or move them indoors during the coldest months of the year.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.
