Characteristics: A striking houseplant with bright green foliage and sumptuous velvety red blooms growing from stems.
Growth and Spread: Ultimate height and spread of up to 25cm.
Care and Maintenance: Place in a bright spot out of direct sunlight and water when the top 2cm of soil dries out. This is likely to be weekly during spring/summer and fortnightly during autumn/winter. Mist regularly to keep humidity levels up.
Period of Interest: Cambria Red Velvet flowers up to three times a year and blooms can appear at any time.
Top Tip: Cut the stems down after the blooms fade to encourage new stems and fresh flowers to grow.
The Cambria Red Velvet Orchid plant boasts fresh green foliage, with two stems that produce an abundance of deep red flowers. It will flower periodically throughout the year, adding colour to the home when most other plants are in their dormant phase.
Its showy blooms are long-lasting and maintain their attractiveness for weeks. This lovely orchid's flowers also carry a subtle sweet fragrance, which helps make them stand out from other cultivars.
Cambria Red Velvet is easy to look after and, other than a weekly watering, will largely take care of itself. It prefers a light spot away from direct sunlight but it will soon tell you if its needs are not being met. A red tinge to the leaves indicates they’re receiving enough light but if they turn completely red then you should move the plant to a shadier spot. If the leaves turn dark then your plant is not getting enough light.
